Before Week 1, there was great anticipation for Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Daniels lived up to the hype, but there were also some plays he would probably like to see again. Daniels completed 17 of 24 passes for 184 yards. He also ran for 88 yards and scored two touchdowns on 16 rushing attempts.
The Commanders’ passing offense struggled overall, especially near the line of scrimmage. Daniels had wide receiver Terry McLaurin open for a potential touchdown, but threw it too far.
After the game, Daniels was honest when asked about his performance.
“I hold myself to very high standards,” Daniels said after Sunday’s game. “We didn’t win. I’m a fighter. I like to win, but overall it went well, pretty well.”
That’s the answer you want to hear from Daniels.

Short thoughts:
-The puzzles were as advertised. Pure gold for the imagination.
– Completed 23.5% of his dropbacks, the sixth-highest rate in a game for any QB since the start of 2022.

There were many spectacular plays from Daniels and several other plays he would like to see repeated. Next week, Daniels and the Commanders face their NFC East rival, the New York Giants.
