Warm weekend evening before a wet and cooler weekend

Today’s forecast:
A weak cold front this morning could bring a barely noticeable drop in temperature in some areas on Thursday afternoon. In our mountains and mountain valleys, maximum temperatures will be between 15 and 21 degrees, and in the plains even 27 degrees are expected.

The early sunshine will give way to some clouds in the late afternoon and early evening. We’ll be watching for sunset, as it could be quite a beautiful sunset as the clouds move across the state. Send us your photos, if you take any good ones, to [email protected].

Weather forecast for Colorado Springs: High: 80; Low: 51. There’s no complaining about today’s weather. This morning’s fall temperatures have given way to pleasant and warm highs of 80 degrees this afternoon.

Pueblo Forecast: High: 85; Low: 50. As the moderate southwesterly flow continues this afternoon, our highs will remain more than 5 degrees above average this afternoon, and skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy by the evening.

Weather forecast for Canon City: High: 83; Low: 55. Thursday will be warm with a light breeze in eastern Fremont County, with peak afternoon wind gusts up to 20 mph.

Weather forecast for Woodland Park: High: 74; Low: 43. A beautiful day of leaf-peeping is in store in Teller County, with a warm high of 70 degrees and a light southwest wind of around 10 to 15 mph.

Tri-Lakes Forecast: High: 70s; Low: 40s/50s. A weak cold front this morning could bring us a two degree drop on Thursday. Otherwise, today looks almost like it will be an exact copy of what we experienced on Wednesday.

Weather forecast for the plains: High: 80s; Low: 40s/50s. Warm, with light winds and sunshine this afternoon, followed by increasing clouds this evening.

Weather forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: High: 70s/80s; Low: 40s/50s. Today’s dry skies and above-average highs will give way to an even warmer day Friday before the forecast changes to cool and unsettled this weekend.

Mountain forecast: High: 60s; Low: 30s/40s. It will be a lovely Thursday in the highlands and the adjacent mountain valleys, with sunny to partly cloudy skies, a light breeze and mild daytime highs.

Extended outlook:
Southwesterly flow will increase Friday, with our high temperature expected to be in the mid 80s in Colorado Springs and low 90s in Pueblo. Wind gusts Friday afternoon will be around 20-30 mph.

Then, on Saturday, big changes are expected, not only in the Pikes Peak region, but across much of the state of Colorado. A well-announced storm will bring the potential for heavier rain and isolated thunderstorms to our area by Saturday afternoon, with rain continuing through Saturday evening. Highs on Saturday will rise to over 21 degrees across the Plains. Highs on Sunday will be even cooler, only ranging between 10 and 15 degrees across the region, with early showers giving way to dry skies by midday.

Snowfall in the mountains is also expected with this storm. A rain/snow mix or a transition from rain to snow is possible in Teller County Saturday night.
