Walz attacks Trump because of his military: “Knows nothing about military service”
Democratic Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz torn former president Donald Trump as a man who knows “nothing about military service” at a rally with his running mate in Las Vegas on Saturday night, amid accusations that he was whitewashing his military career.
Walz faced a barrage of allegations that he lied about his rank, misrepresented his role during a deployment, and abandoned his National Guard unit before it was scheduled to deploy to the Middle East in 2005.
The governor retired and ran for Congress while his unit was deployed overseas.
Last week, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) said he accepted the call to be sent to Iraq as a U.S. Marine, but claimed Walz evaded battlefield duty.
“When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, he left the Army and let his unit go without him. I find that shameful,” Vance said.

Trump, who did not serve in the armed forces, similarly attacked Walz on his Truth Social page when he Newsweek Article quoting veterans criticizing Walz’s retirement from the National Guard after 24 years.
“WALZ IS A DISGRACE TO OUR COUNTRY, BUT KAMALA IS MUCH WORSE!” Trump wrote.
In Vegas, Walz handed out Trump and Vance before introducing Vice President Kamala Harris in front of a crowd of supporters. Walz said:
Every one of you has come here. You have come here because you love your country. You have come here because you know that in a minute or two, a fantastic leader is going to walk through these doors – the person you see who will bring us everything. But let’s be very clear here: Donald Trump sees the world very differently than all of us here. Every one of you talks about service. Donald Trump knows nothing about service. It’s pretty hard to serve others when you’re too busy looking out for yourself.”
