Volvo Trucks receives major European order for electric tractors

Volvo Trucks receives a large European order for 800 of its heavy-duty trucks, 300 of which will be fully battery-electric.

The order comes from logistics provider DSV and is intended to strengthen its fleet of 20,000 trucks for its worldwide locations. The company is now launching a project with Volvo to add 2,000 electric trucks to its European fleet by 2030.

The current order also includes 500 Volvo trucks with fuel-efficient diesel and low-CO2 LNG/HVO gas engines. All trucks are to be delivered between 2024 and 2026.

The new trucks delivered to DSV include the new Volvo FH Aero Electric, which features improved aerodynamics, increased power and range.

DSV is the largest freight transporter in the Volvo Group and the company already has Volvo electric trucks in its fleet. These trucks are used in Sweden and Denmark and DSV has installed charging infrastructure with electricity from solar panels at its distribution centers in both countries.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, says: “I am very proud to deepen our partnership with DSV. Collaboration and a strong commitment to make a real difference are essential to making sustainable transport and major CO2 reductions a reality. This order is a testament to their trust in our company and shows that zero-emission transport is a viable solution here and now.”
