European trade association criticizes Broadcom’s changes to VMware licensing

23 April 2024: Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe (CISPE) sharply criticized Broadcom’s response to concerns about its licensing changes. The industry association said the commercial viability of many cloud services used by customers in Europe was threatened by “the massive and unjustified price increases, the rebundling of products and the changed basis of billing.”

Broadcom changes VMware pricing due to customer backlash and EU questions

16 April 2024: The licensing changes include a standardization of the metric for price quotes among cloud providers to per-core licensing – the same metric used in end-customer licensing. Meanwhile, Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan promised support for customers and clarified how the company would offer VMware products and support going forward.
