Virginia Tech WR Stephen Gosnell talks about his…

The Gosnell family has struggled with many injuries in recent years, most notably TE Benji Gosnell, who missed his senior year of high school and the 2022 season due to injury. However, 2023 went much better for the Gosnell family: WR Stephen Gosnell had the best season of his college career, while Benji Gosnell had his first fully healthy season in years.

However, things changed at the very end of the season when Stephen Gosnell suffered a knee injury in the first half of the Military Bowl, ending his season several quarters early. Although it has been a long road since then, the first two weeks after that injury proved to be the toughest for Stephen Gosnell.

“I would say the hardest part is the first two weeks. Then you get into a phase where you need crutches and you have to rely on other people. They have to bring you food, take you to your car, drive you around. So that’s the hardest part because you’re so dependent on other people,” Gosnell said.

Once Gosnell got through those first few weeks and was able to make progress in his recovery, the frustration slowly turned to fun, as crazy as that may sound.

“Once you start moving, it’s really fun to take it step by step because you’re making new achievements every day,” Gosnell said.

Gosnell wasn’t ready to return for spring football practice, but he also believes his different perspective this spring will help him prepare for the 2024 season.
