Virginia Tech WBB reaches top 6 for Class of 2025 Top 50 Guard Caliyah DeVillasee

Currently, Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Megan Duffy has two top-100 commitments for the class of 2025 in Katie Sears and Amani Jenkins. According to On3’s Talia Goodman, another top-100 recruit according to ESPN’s 2025 HoopGurlz recruiting rankings (No. 43) narrowed her list to six schools on Saturday, with the Hokies on the list.

Point guard Caliyah DeVillasee has listed her top six schools, including Clemson, Georgia, Cincinnati, West Virginia and North Carolina. Two of the Hokies’ other five schools are ACC opponents and the Maryland native will make her decision on Sept. 1.

DeVillasee, who plays at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, is a defender with good game reading, can go to the basket and finish, and is also a catch-and-shoot shooter. You can see some of her highlights from last week below.

The 5-foot-7 Owings Mills, Maryland native talked about all six schools, and here’s what she had to say about Virginia Tech,

“This is an all-female team again. I love them too. I love all the people that are there. The coaching staff is incredible. CoachItoro Coleman came from UNC, and CoachSharnee (Zoll-Norman) came from and Coach Jen Hoover came. I was close to all of them and they just came together and made it better. Their understanding of the game is incredible because they were all at the professional level. When I went there, I could tell they wanted me and I could feel it. The communication between them and their players was incredible and even though it’s a new coaching staff, the players stayed. That says a lot.”

DeVillasee has a decision just 15 days away and getting another top-100 guard in the class would be great for Duffy and the future.
