CHARLOTTE VILLE, Va. – Virginia (2-1) will look to start its first week off on a high note as the Cavaliers travel to undefeated Coastal Carolina (3-0) on Saturday (Sept. 21). Kickoff at Brooks Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m. on ESPN+ and the Virginia Sports Radio Network.

Insights into Saturday’s duel

  • Virginia and Coastal Carolina meet for the first time in program history.
  • The two teams were scheduled to face each other on November 19, 2022 at Scott Stadium, but the contest was canceled due to the tragedy at the venue that claimed the lives of Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry on November 13, 2022.

  • The Cavaliers suffered a 27-13 loss to former ACC rival Maryland in Week 3. The Cavaliers led 13-7 at halftime but failed to score a single point in the final 30 minutes.
  • UVA had four turnovers last week, which is the most in a game in the Tony Elliott era (Maryland, 2023 and Georgia Tech in 2022). Despite the turnovers, the UVA defense allowed just seven points from the four offensive errors.
  • Virginia will face a non-Power 4/5 team on the road for the first time since 2021, when they visited BYU. Previously, UVA visited Notre Dame (2019) and Boise State (2017) in non-Power 4/5 games.

ON THE HORIZON
With no game scheduled next weekend, Virginia will look to take advantage of the first of two off weeks this season. The Cavaliers return to action on Saturday, October 5, when they host Boston College (2-1) for UVA’s annual homecomings game.

The kickoff time for BC is expected to be announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday (September 23).
