Vince Vaughn returns the favor after learning The Wedding Crashers Co-Star Bradley Cooper praised his fearlessness on set.
“I think as an actor you commit, go down the slope and don’t look back,” Vaughn, 54, said exclusively We weekly on Monday, 12 August, in Evil Monkey premiere in Los Angeles, and noted that as an actor he has always gone “all in.”
Vaughn’s remark came after Cooper, 49, referred to his role in The Wedding Crashers as the defining moment for his own career, especially because Vaughn was so unserious on every recording.
“Up until this point, I’ve always tried to get it right on camera. Be present and do it right,” Cooper explained during a January interview for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations program. “I see Vince Vaughn destroy a scene, just destroy it, and then he wants another take. It was the scene where the grandmother shoots him, takes the gun out and he runs out. He just says, ‘I want to do another one.’ In front of everyone… this huge crew and the lights and it’s so nerve-racking… and it was his willingness to fail.”
Cooper, who played Sack Lodge in the 2005 romantic comedy, recalled watching Vaughn and “just being in awe of this human being, this man who just fails and is just willing to try anything.” (Vaughn played co-lead Jeremy Grey in the film alongside Owen Wilsonby John Beckwith.)
When Vaughn heard what Cooper had to say about his performance, he said: Us In his opinion, “that applies to all actors: that they commit to something and hope that it works.”
Vaughn said that since working with Cooper, he’s learned a thing or two about their craft. “Bradley inspired me,” he gushed. “I think that people who work hard and try new things inspire each other. That’s why I’m always inspired.”
The comedian called Cooper’s achievements as an actor “so great.” “Everything he’s done over the last few years is just incredible to watch,” Vaughn added.
It’s been nearly two decades since Vaughn and Cooper laughed together on The Wedding Crashers and with a bit of luck, fans will soon get a sequel.
In November 2020, Vaughn confirmed that something was in the works. “Owen and I and the director of Crashers have seriously discussed a sequel to the film for the first time,” he said Entertainment tonight back then. “There was an idea that was pretty good. So we’re talking about it in the early stages.”
Isla Fisherwho played Vaughn’s lover Gloria, hinted in January that the cast was “pretty close” to making the sequel a reality.
Fisher, 48, said E! News At the time, “there were conversations,” and she noted that she loves the “incredible chemistry” between Vaughn and Wilson as much as fans do. “I want to see them back in front of the camera doing what they do best,” she confessed.
While The Wedding Crashers 2 has not yet been given the green light, Vaughn was busy with his new TV series, Evil Monkey.
In the series, Vaughn plays former detective Andrew Yancy, who is demoted to restaurant inspector in the Florida Keys. He must deal with some strange characters and an evil monkey in order to potentially be reinstated in the Miami police force and solve a strange case.
“I really like the genre. I love Carl Hiaasen as author and (creator) Bill Lawrence is great,” said Vaughn Us to work on the Apple TV+ show. “And the exciting thing about it was that the tone was just ambitious, you know, it was about real stakes, interesting characters and comedy, but then there were twists and turns. It was ambitious and exciting to be a part of.”
Evil Monkey premieres with two episodes on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, August 14th. New episodes will air every Wednesday until October 9th.
