Villarreal 1:5 FC Barcelona: Unstoppable!

The two games between FC Barcelona And Villarreal Last season a total of 15 goals were scored, which was a remarkable achievement, but Sunday saw another exciting football match between two of La Liga’s most in-form teams.

This game had a bit of everything and this time the goals were clearly in Blaugrana’s favour. The great start to the season continues. Six games have passed and Barça have done nothing but win, including an incredible 16 goals in their last three games.

But the day also had a big dark side: a very bad knee injury, which Marc-André ter Stegen shortly before half-time. As soon as we have precise information on the situation of the German goalkeeper, we will let you know.

This brings the injury list to eight first-team players, and there is also the worry of a suspension. Hansi Flick a somewhat unorthodox starting eleven. No less than three players, defenders Gerard Martin And Sergi Domínguez Plus Pablo Torre in midfield were all in the starting eleven for the first time in a league match.

However, none of this could have stopped the team from delivering another top performance.

Lewy with a double pack

In fact, it was Torre who played brilliantly Robert Lewandowski for the first goal after 20 hectic opening minutes. Yeremy Pino a goal was disallowed for offside, Lamine Jamal curled a dream shot onto the post and the two goalkeepers were the busiest players on the pitch. It was a neck-and-neck race in the Ceramica Stadium But it was Barça who had the edge by one goal.

There were plenty of chances on goal on both sides, but Barça were much more dangerous with their own opportunities and once again had their Polish striker to thank for their second win against Diego Conde.

The Villarreal goalkeeper saved Eric Garcia‘s header, but Lewandowski was ready to convert the rebound into the goal with a half-overhead kick from close range.

Torment for ter Stegen

Barça were leading by two goals, but the game was so electrifying that there were still fears that it might not be enough.

In fact, Ayoze Perez quickly shortened the deficit and the home team could have equalized if ter Stegen had not intervened brilliantly when Nicolas Pepe was free towards the goal.

Unfortunately, that was the last contribution the German goalkeeper would make to the game. Moments later, he would leave the game on a stretcher and Iñaki Peña would take his place.

Torre extends lead

The second half was just as hectic as the first. Villarreal’s second goal was disallowed for offside and hit the crossbar as they pushed for an equaliser. But despite their lead being threatened, the Catalans extended it!

Pablo Torre shot in from the edge of the box. What a moment as he scored his first goal for the club’s senior team!

Moments later, Lamine Yamal was brought down in the penalty area, but Lewandowski’s golden chance to complete his hat-trick was deflected straight onto the post.

Raphinha seals the deal

As if the game couldn’t get any more dramatic, Villarreal had yet another goal disallowed for offside before Barça actually scored their fourth and then fifth goals – both times through the boots of the same man.

Raphinhawho now wears the captain’s armband in ter Stegen’s absence, is having a sensational season. And that was two more goals to his name. Barça has not played a competitive game this season in which the Brazilian has not either scored a goal or provided an assist. Phenomenal.

All in all, it was a wonderful football spectacle from both sides and in a game where absolutely anything could have happened, it was immensely refreshing to see Barça manage to assert their authority and win in such convincing fashion.

Don’t forget, there’s more football on Wednesday as Barça faces Getafe at the Estadi Olimpic at 9pm CEST. It’s been a great season so far… More of it please!
