Travis Hunter and Richard Sherman get along well.

The former All-Pro defenseman drew the ire of the Colorado Buffaloes two-way star when he expressed doubts about Hunter’s ability to be a dynamic receiver at the NFL level.

Despite the tensions, Hunter confirmed in the latest episode of the Well Off Media vlog (3:15) that he had spoken to Sherman and that the two had ironed out any issues.

“We talked on the phone,” Hunter said. “There’s no negative energy, he told me he watches me a lot… I modeled my game after him when I was younger, he was a lockdown DB.”

Hunter went on to explain that they both apologized and that his anger was mostly because he idolized Sherman growing up.

“He told me he was sorry, I sent him an apology,” Hunter said. “I didn’t mean it when I did something wrong, it just hurt me because I looked up to him. That’s exactly what it was.”

Sherman played 11 seasons in the NFL, recording 495 tackles and 37 interceptions in 144 games. He was a five-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro and won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks.

Also of note, Sherman played on both sides of the ball at Stanford, so he has a unique perspective on Hunter’s style of play. Sherman spent the first three seasons of his career as a wide receiver, but moved to defensive back the last two seasons and was an impact player in the Cardinals’ secondary.

Hunter plays receiver and cornerback at the same time and has shown tremendous ability at both positions. In 2024, he totaled 37 catches for 472 yards and five touchdowns, along with 14 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble on defense.
