According to the Kalamazoo County Dispatch Authority, Verizon Wireless users in the Kalamazoo area are without cellular reception due to “significant service degradation issues.”

The account associated with the Kalamazoo Police Department posted a post on Facebook addressing the outage. The post states that there is no recovery timeline yet.

According to Verizon’s network status checker, the network outage began at 2:38 p.m. Thursday. As of 6 p.m. Thursday, the problem is still ongoing. While the Kalamazoo Dispatch account stated that there is no known recovery time, Verizon’s website gives an estimated time of 12 to 24 hours for the outage to be resolved.

Down Detector, an online service that allows users to report service interruptions, received more than 600 reports of data, voice, text and wireless home Internet problems from Verizon users in Kalamazoo as of around 3 p.m.
