The U.S. is seeking its eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal, with the Americans winning each of the last seven championship games by at least 11 points. The same can be said for the 2024 Olympics, where the Americans have won their five victories so far by an average of 18.6 points. The U.S. beat Australia 85-64 in the semifinals, spreading the ball up and down its lineup. Only top shooter Breanna Stewart attempted double-digit scoring with 16 points on 6 of 12 shooting.
France’s only loss in the tournament so far was against the same Australian team, 79-72, in the final of both teams in Group B. The French beat a good German team 84-71 in the quarterfinals and beat Belgium 81-75 in the semifinals.
