This is how he beat De Minaur today: “I think I played a solid match. I feel fitter than I have in a long time. That’s what Alex has brought me in the past. I think he was struggling a little bit with something today, which maybe helped me a little bit. All respect to Alex, he’s an incredible fighter, an incredible player and we’ll have many more fights.”

To change shoes: “The thing about Nike is that it’s such an iconic brand that there are so many retro models. These are the (Andre) Agassi sneakers from back in the day. Honestly, I don’t know how he moved in those shoes. I can’t imagine sliding in those shoes. Incredible shoes and I pulled them out.”

On the question of whether he will watch the match between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev: “I’m a huge sports fan and a huge tennis fan, so I’ll definitely watch the game tonight if it’s not too late and just enjoy the win and relax.”
