Update on speed enforcement in New York State Police shared work zones

It’s no secret that there are a lot of rich people in New York State, and you’ll need to have a lot of cash on you if you get a ticket in a New York work zone. The message is to slow down and obey lane changes, but not everyone gets that message.

In my opinion, anyone who drives through a construction zone at high speed deserves a hefty fine and perhaps even a suspension of their license. To raise awareness of the problem of speeding in a highway construction zone, the New York State Police has created a program called Operation Hard Hat.

The goal of this program is to send a police officer into the construction zone and have them set up a speed trap for people who can’t or won’t slow down. One driver was caught driving 92 miles per hour in a construction zone.

That may have been the fastest speed we observed, but 57 other drivers were also ticketed for speeding in the active construction zone. In just over four hours, a total of 75 tickets were issued to drivers. (New York State Police via Facebook)
