Columbia Police need your help solving a robbery that occurred over the weekend near a popular downtown bar that left the victim with serious injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. Saturday morning in the 900 block of East Broadway. Columbia police have not released an exact location, but our news partner KMIZ, Olivia Hayes, reports it occurred outside of Nash Vegas.

CPD investigators say the victim was “struck multiple times in the head and then lost consciousness.” The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said. Columbia police describe the suspect as a black male wearing a pink shirt. Police say the suspect left the scene in a silver sedan. 939 the Eagle reached out to Columbia police on Sunday afternoon to see if they had made any arrests. Police told us they had no further information at this time.

A witness who saw the incident told ABC-17’s Olivia Hayes that she and the victim were sitting outside Nash Vegas when the man in the pink shirt provoked them. The witness says her friend told the suspect to stop and was hit twice by the suspect. The witness says her friend was thrown to the concrete. The witness also claims the suspect and others drove by in a silver sedan after the incident and yelled “goodnight.”

Columbia police describe their investigation as still ongoing: They encourage anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. You can call this number anonymously.
