Series history

All-time series record: First meeting
Last meeting: —

A victory would…

» Give Carolina its third consecutive win to start the 2024 season.
» Be the Tar Heels’ first win over NC Central…in the first meeting between the two teams.
» Help UNC start the year 3-0 for the third consecutive year.
» Have fun going out.

2-0 start into 2024
After beating Charlotte last weekend, the Tar Heels are now 2-0 for the fifth time in the last six years. UNC was 2-0 just five times in the 20 years before Coach Brown returned to Carolina in 2019.

Success in the second stint
Carolina is now second in the ACC in total wins since Mack BrownReturning to Chapel Hill, Clemson leads the league with 55 total wins during that span, while UNC is second with 40 wins and NC State is third with 39 wins.

Ritzie causes chaos
College graduate as defensive player Jahvaree Ritzie leads the nation with five sacks after two games, but Carolina’s defense as a whole is also causing problems for the quarterback, ranking eighth in the nation in team sacks with four sacks per game after two wins.

Get off topic
In the win over Charlotte, the freshman running back Davion Gause ran for 105 yards and a touchdown and caught a pass for 16 yards in only his second college game.
