Sold out Saturday night

Attendance will play a role on Saturday night. Ole Miss announced this week that all remaining Ole Miss football home games are sold out. The Ole Miss Athletics ticket office sold the remaining Georgia Southern tickets on Wednesday. SEC games have been sold out since late August. For the remaining tickets, fans can visit SeatGeek, the Ole Miss Athletics’ official fan-to-fan ticket marketplace, to purchase tickets from other fans who cannot attend.

Eagle Air Raid

Fans who expected Georgia Southern to run the ball 59 times like they did at The Vaught in 2016 will be sorely disappointed. The Eagles rank 22nd in the nation with 37.0 pass attempts per game, just ahead of Ole Miss’ offense at 36.7. Quarterback JC French, a transfer from Memphis, will challenge a Rebels secondary that has been the weakest point on defense this season.

Rebel onslaught

While Ole Miss’ biggest defensive concern is likely the passing attack, Georgia Southern’s biggest concern might be the running game. The Eagles are third-to-last in the nation, allowing 236.7 rushing yards per game. They will have to deal with an Ole Miss running game that ranks 12th nationally at 257.7 yards per game, led by running back Henry Parrish, Jr.who is number 13 in the nation with an average of 112.7 rushing yards per game.

Empty end zone

Ole Miss has yet to allow a touchdown this season. Will the Rebels’ defense continue its winning streak against a Georgia Southern offense that ranks in the top 25 in the country with 14 touchdowns scored in three games?

Well-trained opponent
Lane Kiffin praised the character and competence of Georgia Southern coach Clay Helton in his weekly press conference. Helton’s first big break in the coaching industry came when Kiffin hired him at USC in 2010. Helton later became head coach of the Trojans and even recruited Jaxson Dart to Los Angeles.
