MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women’s basketball head coach Alex Simmons announced the schedule for the 2024-25 season on Monday. The schedule begins with a home game against Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 4 and includes three showdowns with Power 4 opponents.

“The priority of our schedule is to prepare and select teams that will get us ready for March,” said Simmons, who is entering her second year at the helm. “We are ready to start the season with a schedule that will challenge us in ways that may be uncomfortable, but also prepare us for the postseason. It will be critical for this group of seniors to come together, lead as a unit and make sure we stay focused on our team goals.”


After the season-opening matchup with MVSU, the Tigers will travel to Starkville, Mississippi, to face Mississippi State on Nov. 7. Memphis will then play three of its next four games at Elma Roane Fieldhouse, hosting Samford (Nov. 10), Saint Louis (Nov. 19) and Murray State (Nov. 23) to close out the November schedule, along with a road game against Ball State (Nov. 13).


After the Thanksgiving break, the Tigers will play three consecutive road games, traveling to ETSU (Dec. 1), Southern Miss (Dec. 8) and Troy (Dec. 14). The non-conference schedule will conclude with two games at FedEx Forum, where Memphis will face Tennessee (Dec. 18) and Louisville (Dec. 21).



MVSU (November 4)

  • Memphis has an overall record of 6-0 against the Delta Devils
  • The last encounter ended with a 91-54 victory on December 20, 2019.
  • This is the sixth of seven games against MVSU played at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

Mississippi State (November 7)

  • Memphis leads the series 18-14
  • The Bulldogs have won their last five games, including an 81-63 win over Memphis on December 17, 2023

Samford (November 10)

  • Samford leads the series with three wins to two
  • Memphis defeated Samford 53-48 on December 9, 2018
  • With an average victory difference of 7.4 points, four out of five competitions were decided by eight or fewer points

Ball State (November 13)

  • Memphis won the only duel with Ball State, a 79-62 victory on March 20, 2023
  • Jamirah Shutes had 23 points on 4/8 3PT throws; then a sophomore Hannah Riddick had six points and eight rebounds

Saint Louis (November 19)

  • Memphis has an all-time record of 24-6 against the Billikens
  • The last game ended with an 83:71 victory for Memphis behind Madison Griggs’ 19 points
  • The Tigers won the first 11 contests of the series from 1991 to 1998

Murray State (November 23)

  • Memphis leads the all-time series 9-3
  • The teams have not played each other since November 15, 2009, when Murray State won 69-59.
  • The Tigers won the first six meetings with the Racers from 1972 to 1980

ETSU (December 1)

  • Memphis has a record of 9-3 against the Buccaneers
  • The last time these two teams faced each other was a thrilling overtime thriller with Memphis winning 77-74.

Southern Miss (December 8)

  • Memphis leads Southern Miss 30-25 in all-time series
  • These teams face each other for the second consecutive year after Memphis narrowly defeated the Golden Eagles 69-67 on December 10, 2023 at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
  • The Tigers have won 10 of the last 14 competitions since 2008

Troy (14 December)

  • Memphis and Troy faced each other for the first time last season on December 2, 2023. Five Tigers scored in double figures and reached a season-high 100 points with a 100-88 victory.

Tennessee (December 18)

  • Tennessee has won 27 of the 28 games between the two teams
  • Last season, Memphis forced the No. 12/15 Lady Vols into overtime in Knoxville before losing 84-74.
  • Head coach Alex Simmons won two national championships as a player in Tennessee from 2004 to 2009

Louisville (December 21)

  • Memphis has an all-time series record of 23-21
  • Louisville has won the last six duels with the Tigers, most recently 82-66 on February 16, 2014.
