Unexpected intruder breaks into a house near Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials recently said a Colorado woman lost two garage doors because of bears.

CPW shared footage of a bear breaking through their garage door, sneaking into their garage and searching for food.

Another video also showed the bear dragging the same woman’s grill around. The video showed the bear knocking over the grill, sniffing around it, and dragging it through her yard.

Footage released from the woman’s property showed an open door with trash scattered on the ground all around it.

Bears are usually afraid of people and try to stay away, but once they learn that humans can be a source of food, they can become aggressive and destructive. According to CPW, it is neither normal nor natural for bears to go to homes and break down doors and windows to get food.

They refer to this as bears “habituating”: they become less fearful and more comfortable approaching houses and searching for food near people.

“We urge everyone to put out bird feeders every night and keep trash, pet food and other attractants away from animals,” CPW said on X. “Clean your grill after each use. Bears have powerful noses and are extremely strong animals.”

CPW also said that garbage can be very dangerous for bears
