Ukrainian Defense Ministry puts 70 new ammunition models for drones into service

As of the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Defense has codified 70 ammunition samples for unmanned aerial vehicles and approved them for use in the armed forces, 20 of them in July alone.

This is according to a message from the press office of the Ministry of Defense, reports Ukrinform.

“The new samples include high-explosive, cumulative, combined and multi-purpose ammunition. They also vary in weight: from several hundred grams to several kilograms,” the statement said.

Ammunition for UAVs is used to destroy enemy equipment and fortifications and to attack enemy troops both in open terrain and in specially equipped shelters, fortifications or in armored vehicles.

The Department of Defense noted that the role of drone systems on the battlefield is steadily increasing.

The domestic sector of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine is dynamically responding to the needs of the army by increasing the production of air defense capabilities of various types and for different purposes, actively developing new models of unmanned aerial vehicles and expanding the range of ammunition for various types of drones.

As Ukrinform previously reported, 70 percent of the cost of contracts for arms supplies to the army is passed on to Ukrainian manufacturers.
