UFC main event ends early after ‘terrible beating’, social media reacts

The Octagon Side doctor in Paris had seen enough. He tried to stop the main event between Renato Moicano and homegrown Benoit Saint Denis with the latter’s right eye shut from some heavy ground-and-pound punches in the first round.

The doctor’s stoppage came before the third round, but strangely Saint Denis had somehow recovered enough to win the second frame. Still, the damage he sustained in the first round gave him a steep climb. Saint Denis is known as the God of War and after taking on Moicano, the Frenchman looked like he was one.

When the fight was over, several members of the MMA community went to X to voice their opinions.

ESPN MMA posted this before and after picture of Saint Denis to show the extent of the damage Moicano did in just one round.

Alex Behunin pointed this out Saint Denis’ loss to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in October 2021. Referee Vyacheslav Kiselev allowed Saint Denis to take far more punishment in this fight than he should have, as dos Santos was on him for most of the first round Feet beat.

Daniel Cormier, Paul Felder and Jon Anik screamed for Kiselev to stop the fight, and similar to what we saw against Moicano, Saint-Denis made a small comeback, but not enough to win. Behunin called both losses “terrible blows.”

Saint Denis’s calling card is his tenacity. His background in the French special forces is part of the mystery. He starts racking up the number of postgame defeats and taking a lot of damage in the process.

It’s time for someone on their team to think about their long-term future in the sport and beyond.

Here’s a look at all the results from UFC Paris.
