Another transfer is joining head coach Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels this fall. Forward Tyzhaun Claude announced his commitment to Carolina on Wednesday afternoon. The Goldsboro, NC native has one year of eligibility remaining.
The 2024-25 season will be Claude’s sixth in college basketball. He spent the first three years of his career at Morehead State, where he played 19 games as a freshman before missing most of the next two seasons due to injury.
Claude then transferred to Western Carolina in 2022-23, where he led the Southern Conference with 8.6 rebounds per game and ranked second on the Catamount squad with 15.4 points per game. His 3.2 offensive rebounds per game were good enough for 30th in all of Division 1.
Claude transferred to Georgia Tech for the 2023-24 season. Despite starting just four games and seeing his numbers slip, Claude had one of his best games in an upset win over Davis and the Tar Heels. Claude scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots for the shorthanded Yellow Jackets, helping to end a 10-game Carolina winning streak.
Claude adds depth to UNC’s frontcourt, which must replace all-time leading rebounder Armando Bacot. Returning players Jalen Washington, Jae’Lyn Withers and Zayden High are joined by freshman James Brown and transfers Ven-Allen Lubin and Cade Tyson.
