Tyzhaun Claude, transferring from Georgia Tech, has joined the UNC basketball program

Well, the recruitment went quickly!

After Georgia Tech transfer Tyzhaun Claude received eligibility from the NCAA for the 2024-2025 season on August 1, he immediately began planning his next move.

Although there were rumors that Georgetown was heavily involved, it was ultimately the UNC basketball program that won this recruiting battle.

The Goldsboro, North Carolina native has had quite the college career thus far, having been to three different schools. He began his career at Morehead State and unfortunately struggled with injuries during his three years on campus.

From there, Claude moved to Western Carolina, where he had an outstanding season, averaging 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. After just one season at Western Carolina, Claude moved again to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, where he averaged 4.8 points and 5.4 rebounds as a substitute.

Now, it appears that Claude is the final member of the 2024-2025 roster, as the Tar Heels have signed another forward to bolster the depth of their frontcourt. With the UNC basketball program having an extra roster spot available, it made perfect sense to bring in a player who brings tons of experience, especially in ACC play.

It will be interesting to see how Claude fits in, especially after missing summer workouts with the team. While his focus will be starting practice next week, expect him to hit the gym quickly to get used to his new teammates before the season opens on November 4.
