In a week full of cryptic social media posts about potential or rumored trades, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill got in on the action.

Hill posted on X that he woke up to “exciting” trade news on Wednesday.

I woke up to exciting trading news

This comes after NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday that Davante Adams told the Las Vegas Raiders he would prefer to be traded.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce previously liked a post on Instagram Sports IllustratedMichael Fabiano said it wouldn’t be a surprise if Adams had already played his last snap for the team.

Miami just restructured Hill’s contract in August to pay him $90 million over the next three years. The team could be in the midst of a lost season with Tua Tagovailoa currently playing on injured reserve, so perhaps they could consider making moves with the long-term future in mind.

Per Over the Cap, Miami could save $65 million against the cap between 2025 and 2027 if Hill is traded. There is nothing to indicate that the Dolphins want to trade away their star receiver, let alone that such a move is imminent.

The timing of Hill’s post on

Even considering that athletes don’t pay the same attention to these types of stories as fans and journalists, it’s strange that it took him about 20 hours to realize that Adams wanted to leave Vegas.

The Dolphins were eliminated on Tuesday after losing 31-12 to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night. Hill might make a point to avoid all NFL news when he has an off day, just as someone who regularly works 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. might not want to think about work unless they have to.

Perhaps the most surprising part of Hill’s post is that he wakes up at 12:39 p.m. local time. Professional athletes have ridiculous schedules. The Rock, who was still a part-time athlete when he decided to wrestle in the WWE, wakes up at 3:30 every morning.

Admittedly, it’s believed that the first thing Hill did when he woke up was check social media, look at the Adams report, and decide he had to make a cryptic post. He may have been up early for a regular workout, spent time with his wife and child, and then started posting before the Dolphins began their first practice of the week.
