TxDOT Know Before You Go for the week of August 19, 2024

Officials from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) released information on various lane closures and updates due to ongoing projects:

Monday, August 19

Lane closures are expected on eastbound I-40 via Tyler and Harrison Streets as bridge work continues. Work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, August 21. During this time, the Washington Street ramp to eastbound I-40 will be closed.

Eastbound I-40 at the BNSF Railyard will require multiple lane closures as bridge work is being performed. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, August 30. The following access ramps will be temporarily closed during this time:

  • US 287 south to the I-40 eastbound ramp
  • From I-27 north to the I-40 eastbound ramp

Expect lane closures on I-40 westbound from the BNSF Railyard to Harrison Street as bridge work continues. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, August 30. The following ramps will be temporarily closed during this time:

  • From I-40 westbound to US 287 northbound exit
  • From I-40 westbound to I-27 southbound exit
  • US 287 south to the I-40 westbound ramp

Due to paving work, the Crockett Street Bridge on I-40 is limited to one lane in both directions. Work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, August 21.

Lane closures are expected in both directions on I-40 and Airport Boulevard as a fence is installed on the east bridge railing. Work is expected to be completed by Thursday, August 22.

Tuesday, August 20

Westbound I-40 at the Hope Road Bridge will be closed for bridge demolition work. After westbound work is completed, crews will move to eastbound I-40 to complete the demolition, so those lanes will need to be closed. Demolition is expected to be completed by mid-September. The Hope Road Bridge is expected to be closed for six months while crews rebuild the bridge. Message boards and signs will be posted along the roads to inform drivers of the detour details.

Wednesday, August 21

Buchanan Street will be closed from Southeast Third Avenue to Northeast Third Avenue for track work. Work is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Please drive carefully and reduce speed in all construction zones. All projects are subject to change due to weather, emergency work and other unexpected events. Please allow sufficient time to reach your destination safely if these closures affect your commute. For the most up-to-date information on road conditions, visit www.drivetexas.org.
