Two-time Super Bowl champion Kadarius Toney visits the Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks’ search for another wide receiver continues.

Former Kansas City Chiefs receiver and returner Kadarius Toney visited the Seahawks on Tuesday. according to Field Yates of ESPNThe New York Giants’ 2021 first-round pick was released by the reigning two-time Super Bowl champions as part of roster cuts.

Toney did not score a single touchdown in his rookie season, catching just 39 passes for 420 yards. His very brief stint with the Giants ended in mid-2022 when he was traded to the Chiefs for a third- and sixth-round pick. One of his three touchdowns as a pass receiver came inevitably in a 24-10 win over the Seahawks. Toney set the record for the longest punt return in Super Bowl history, catching the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s 38-35 championship victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2023, Toney did his best to drop everything Patrick Mahomes threw at him, catching 27 passes for just 169 yards and one touchdown, but can call himself a two-time Super Bowl champion despite playing against the San Francisco 49ers.

Normally, the only defenses for a draft flop are his age—Toney is younger than Jake Bobo—and the need for better coaching. But that’s meaningless considering he was an incredibly ineffective receiver with the best head coach/quarterback combination in the NFL.

This is just a visit and not an indication of an impending commitment. I would rather not see him in a Seahawks uniform, even on the practice squad.
