Two San Antonio-area middle school students were arrested last week for threatening school shootings

Bexar County Sheriff’s Office officials arrested a 12-year-old student at Gregory Luna Middle School in Northside ISD on Tuesday after threatening to shoot a fellow student.

The first threat was made during a FaceTime conversation on Saturday, during which the suspect allegedly showed photos of firearms and threatened to shoot the victim and “shoot up the school.”

School administrators notified the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, but immediately suspended the suspect from school until the arrest and investigation into the threat were complete.

Officers arrested the suspect at a home in western Bexar County and executed a search warrant.

They confiscated a .380 caliber pistol with an extended magazine, ammunition, two dummy pistols, and two different body armor plate carriers.

The suspect is being held at the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of making terroristic threats and putting the public in fear.

“It is important that parents talk to their children about the serious consequences associated with threats,” said Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar. “The BCSO will thoroughly investigate these cases and make arrests when appropriate.”

This is already the second middle school student in the area to be arrested within a few days for making such threats.

San Antonio police also arrested a 12-year-old boy on Sunday after he allegedly threatened to shoot at several San Antonio schools.
