Two people were seriously injured in a collision between a van and a motorcycle

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Two people suffered serious injuries after a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle on Monday.

On August 26, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Parkersburg Police officers responded to a traffic collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle at the intersection of 29th and Birch Streets.

According to the press release, initial investigations revealed that the pickup truck was traveling east on 29th Street and the motorcycle was traveling south on Birch Street.

There was a driver and a passenger on the motorcycle. Both occupants of the motorcycle were taken to Camden Clark Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle, Cameron Matheny, 22, of Parkersburg, was subsequently flown by rescue helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for further treatment, the press release said.

The motorcycle passenger, Asthon Melrose, 23, of Mineral Wells, was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center.

According to the press release, 36-year-old Camron Stover of Marietta was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck and was uninjured in the accident.

Due to the severity of the injuries to both motorcyclists, members of the Wood County Crash Team responded to the incident.

The incident is still under investigation.
