Two arrests in drive-by shooting in Spokane near Perry District

SPOKANE, Wash. – Two suspects have been arrested following a drive-by shooting near the Perry District.

On Sunday, August 4, at approximately 4 p.m., Spokane Police responded to a 911 call in the 1400 block of East 7th Avenue, where they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the leg. She was taken to the hospital; her condition is unknown.

The investigation revealed that two suspects, one armed, left the scene in a dark-colored car. A bullet hole in a nearby house was identified as the entry point for the shot that injured the woman. There were children in the house, and another neighboring house and a car also sustained firearm damage. Shell casings were found and the suspect’s car was identified.

An officer later linked the shooting to a drunken driving arrest made that same morning. The suspect was found unconscious in a car with a stolen, empty handgun. Further investigation confirmed he was connected to the shooting. Patrol officers subsequently arrested the second suspect at an apartment on South Richard Allen Court.

Jonathan Tokwia, 35, faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault, drive-by shooting and illegal possession of a firearm. Jacob K. Milne, 18, faces similar charges, in addition to a charge of fourth-degree assault. Both are convicted felons. Tokwia’s bail is set at $750,000 and Milne’s is set at $500,000.
