While AI was all the rage at this year’s NAB Show, there was another fast-moving trend that captured the attention of perhaps an even larger portion of attendees: remote and virtual manufacturing.
The trend towards such productions is being driven by two main factors that have come into focus during the pandemic: cost and environmental impact. Using fewer staff to cover live events helps save money and promote sustainability – both of which are high on broadcasters’ priorities these days.
This trend is also driving a demand for improved and more efficient workflows, enabled by advances in KVM (keyboard, video and mouse), a technology that has been around for decades but is becoming increasingly important, particularly with the move from SDI to IP.
The need for reliable, high-performance equipment to handle complex workflows and live broadcast requirements is constantly high. And with the increasing demands for lower latency while efficiently handling higher resolutions, more and more media companies will turn to KVM systems to better control the various elements of a live production.
In our latest KVM guide, we look at the latest trends driving the evolution of these increasingly important production workhorses.
