Turki discount! Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois PPV price announced for title fight on September 21

Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, recently announced a reduction in pay-per-view (PPV) prices for major boxing matches. The aim is to curb piracy in combat sports and provide better access for financially weak boxing fans.

As a result, streaming the IBF heavyweight title fight between British sluggers Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Wembley Arena in London, England, will cost just $19.99. That’s a whopping $50 less than “AJ’s” last fight, a thunderous knockout victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou earlier this year in Riyadh.

If the Joshua vs. Dubois title fight moves significant PPV units, future boxing cards are likely to stay in the $20 range. If the venture proves to be a costly affair, it stands to reason that promoters will return to higher prices. Moreover, not everyone in the combat sports community is on board with the Turki discount, despite a “great relationship” with the General Entertainment Authority.

The IBF title became available earlier this year when Oleksandr Usyk (as expected) relinquished his belt to fight a lucrative rematch against Tyson Fury in Riyadh in October. The winner of that fight could face the winner of Joshua vs. Dubois or perhaps resurgent Chinese slugger Zhilei Zhang.
