Trump’s niece, a psychologist, says he is “demented” after giving “incomprehensible” answers to a question about child care

Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s niece, shared her analysis that the former president’s mental health was deteriorating after he struggled to answer a question about child care.

In a post on Substack on Sunday, the psychologist claimed Trump was “demented,” referring to his appearance at the Economic Club of New York last week, where he was asked what kind of legislation he would push to make child care affordable.

“Well, I would do that, and we sit down, I was somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was a big influence on this issue,” Trump began his long, rambling answer. “It’s a very important issue, but I think when you talk about the numbers that I’m talking about, you see, child care is child care. There’s something that you have to have in this country, you have to have.”

He went on to say that the import tariffs he proposed would raise more than enough money to fund child care, but he did not elaborate on what his policy would actually look like.

Mary Trump wrote that the answer was “gibberish” and that the only thing that made any sense was the sentence “child care is child care.”

She went on to criticize the “corporate media” for failing to properly report on Trump’s response and instead saying they needed to “translate Donald’s nonsensical ramblings into a version of the English language that we all understand.”

Mary Trump argued that reporters were giving the words “a meaning that doesn’t exist,” adding that it is “deeply disturbing that someone as insane and incoherent as Donald is even allowed to run for president.”

The psychologist wrote that her uncle had “demonstrably lost touch with reality” and that “the warning lights” were not flashing for him “because no one who reports on him expects anything different.”

“Surely a political press that has spent months arguing that President Biden’s age renders him mentally incompetent would not look the other way when the Republican nominee, the oldest presidential candidate in American history, is not only old but decompensating before our eyes,” she wrote. “The difference, of course, is that Biden is aging while Donald is becoming demented.”

Mary Trump called him “frightened” and “desperate,” arguing that the former president was worried that his very freedom depended on his ability to return to the White House and dismiss the pending federal cases against him.

Mary Trump slammed the media for its coverage of the former commander-in-chief, concluding: “The American people have a right to know what we’re dealing with. We have a right to be told there’s a madman on the loose.”

On Saturday evening, the former president announced that he would jail anyone involved in “unconscionable conduct” in connection with the November election.

“IF I WIN, the people who CHEATED will be punished to the fullest extent of the law, including lengthy prison sentences, to ensure this corruption of justice is not repeated,” wrote Donald Trump.

He added: “Please note that these legal consequences also apply to lawyers, political activists, donors, illegal voters and corrupt election officials. Those who behave unscrupulously will be tracked down, caught and prosecuted on a scale that has unfortunately never been seen before in our country.”

Trump has repeatedly threatened to use his presidency to seek revenge on those he believes have wronged him, despite there being no evidence of the kind of voter fraud he falsely claims cost him the 2020 election.
