Trump reacts to ABC News’ performance at the presidential debate

Former President Trump reacted to his appearance at the ABC News presidential debate on “Hannity” late Tuesday night, saying he believes it was his “best debate ever.”

“I thought it was really good. We had three against one, but I expected it,” he said, referring to debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis, who at times fact-checked the former president and questioned him on his answers.

Davis asked Trump a question about his stance on abortionand he claimed that in some states abortion was legal in the ninth month of pregnancy.

“You even have – and you can look at the governor of West Virginia (Virginia) – the previous governor … not the current governor, who is doing an excellent job, but the governor before that who said, ‘The baby is going to be born, and we’re going to decide what to do with the baby.’ In other words, we’re going to execute the baby. And that’s why I did it,” Trump said.

ABC’s Linsey Davis raises eyebrows with fact-check against Trump on abortion: “Totally interferes”

After his remarks, Davis said, “There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after birth.”

Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Trump about reports that Harris’ campaign wants a second debate in October and whether he would be willing to do so. Fox News has officially invited both the Trump and Harris campaigns to a second debate next month.

“She wants it because she lost,” Trump replied. “I don’t know. I’ll have to think about it. But if you won the debate, I think maybe I shouldn’t. Why should I go to another debate? She immediately said we want another debate. That’s… you know what happens when you’re a prizefighter and you lose? You immediately want another fight.”

“Would you be inclined to say yes?” Hannity asked.

“Maybe I would do that if it were on a fair network,” Trump said.

Trump and Harris discuss

The 2024 Republican presidential candidate also criticized Harris for her answers to some of the debate questions.

“I always say I’ve been preparing for these debates my whole life. You know, you can’t go in like she does. She goes into a room and more or less memorizes the lines,” he told Hannity.

Trump and Harris received both positive and negative reactions for their respective debate appearances.

Brit Hume, chief political analyst for Fox News, said the former president “had a bad night.”

“We heard so many of the old complaints that we had long thought Trump had learned were not political winners,” Hume said after the debate.

Former Democratic congressman and co-host of “The Five” Harold Ford Jr. acknowledged that Harris could have been more specific in her answers and better addressed the changes in her policy positions.
