Donald Trump is angry. “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” he posted on Truth Social on Sunday morning, just days after the star endorsed Kamala Harris.
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post that went live after Tuesday’s debate and did not attack Trump. She concluded her post with the slogan “Childless cat lady” — irking Trump’s running mate JD Vance, who has complained that the country is run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies.”
In a statement Sunday, brimming with Swift references, Harris-Walz spokeswoman Sarafina Chitika said in response to Trump’s Truth Social post: “Donald Trump’s week of whining and spreading conspiracy theories has caused voters on both sides of the aisle to forget he existed. The American people want to emerge from the chaos and division of the Trump era, leave the void of Trump’s broken promises behind, and start anew by electing Vice President Harris to ensure America’s future of opportunity lasts long.”
Chitika continued, “Voters know all too well how dangerous Trump and his Project 2025 will be if he wins. This November, we can make sure this is the last time we have to confront his endgame of raising taxes on the middle class and stripping Americans of their freedoms. Together, we can put the Trump era behind us and write a new chapter where all Americans can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing we have strong, consistent leadership at the helm. We can make sure our story is one of progress – and show Donald Trump that we are not going back to December 2020. Like never before.”
This is not the first time Trump has responded to Swift’s endorsement, which sent more than 400,000 people to vote.gov. When asked about his feelings on the matter last week, Trump said, “Actually, I like Mrs. Mahomes much better,” referring to Swift’s friend Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has liked several pro-Trump posts on social media.
“I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” Trump continued. “It was just a matter of time. You couldn’t possibly support Biden. But she’s a very liberal person, she always seems to support a Democrat – and she’ll probably pay a price for that in the market.”
Trump may not be a fan of Swift, but he is apparently a fan of her merchandise. Trump released a campaign T-shirt with his image on it that copied a design from Swift’s Eras tour.
One reason Swift publicly endorsed Harris was because Trump had shared an AI-generated image of her. “I recently became aware that AI images of ‘me’ were being posted on his website falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s candidacy for president,” she wrote. “This really revived my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It made me realize that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election. The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
