Trump hosts first event since recent assassination in Flint, Michigan

Former President Trump will hold a town hall event in Flint, Michigan, on Tuesday, his first campaign rally since the recent attempt on his life.

Trump will attend a town hall-style event Tuesday evening at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, where he is expected to take questions from the audience and focus his remarks on the auto industry and inflation.

The incident came just two days after Trump survived a second assassination attempt on Sunday, this time during a golf game at Trump National Golf Club in Florida.

Trump’s town hall meeting in Flint will be moderated by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who is expected to take a larger role in the campaign for the former president as the campaign nears its home stretch.

The event comes in the final 50 days before the election, as both candidates fight to solidify their support for November. Michigan is expected to play a key role for both Trump and his opponent, Vice President Harris, as it is one of the swing states most likely to swing the election in favor of either candidate.

According to Real Clear Politics’ polling average, Harris is currently slightly ahead of Trump in the state with an average approval rating of 48.3%, while Trump is at 47.6%.

Trump won Michigan by less than one percentage point in 2016, while Biden beat Trump in Michigan by less than three percentage points in 2020.
