Trump demonstrates in North Carolina, Harris speaks about economy in Pennsylvania

In remarks that were supposed to focus primarily on the economy, Trump speculated whether Iran might be behind the assassination attempt on him in July and the apparent attempt on his life earlier this month.

“To our knowledge, there have been two assassination attempts on me and Iran may have been involved, or it may not have been. I don’t know for sure. I can’t be sure,” Trump said at a manufacturing facility in Mint Hill in the contested state of North Carolina.

Trump said the FBI was unable to open “three apps possibly installed overseas” on the phone of the first suspect in Butler, Pennsylvania, and called on Apple to unlock the apps.

“If I were the president, I would tell the threatening country, in this case Iran, that if you do anything to harm that person, we will blow your biggest cities and the country itself into a thousand pieces. We will blow it into a thousand pieces. You cannot do that,” he said.

The former president said they wanted to kill him because he wanted to bring jobs back to the USA

“People in the countries want to kill me,” he said. “They are not happy with me. That’s it. It’s a risky business. That’s why they want to kill me. They only kill important presidents.”

There is no evidence that Iran was behind the two assassination attempts against Trump. However, Trump’s campaign team said yesterday that the former president was informed yesterday by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence of real and specific death threats from Iran aimed at destabilizing the United States and causing chaos.
