Trump and Harris will enter the election campaign after the debate to use the momentum

The clock is ticking for both presidential candidates, with election day less than two months away.

Vice President Kamala Harris is campaigning in North Carolina, while former President Donald Trump visited Arizona on Thursday. Both candidates embarked on a tour of swing states after the debate, seeking to capitalize on or regain momentum after major political moments in the days following the debate.

The two political rivals shook hands at a 9/11 remembrance ceremony before heading into November. In a moment of levity this week, at a time when politics could surely use more of it, President Joe Biden exchanged laughs and an autograph with a Trump supporter before donning his Trump hat.

Alabama began sending out mail-in ballots on Wednesday, kicking off the general election. North Carolina should send out its ballots soon after delays caused by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s successful lawsuit to remove his name from the ballot. In key swing states Pennsylvania and Virginia, in-person early voting begins next week.

Megastar Taylor Swift spoke out in support of Harris this week, urging people to vote as she accepted an MTV award.

“This is an award that our fans voted for and I really appreciate it. If you are over 18, please register to vote for something else very important that is coming up soon,” she said on stage.

The Republicans accepted this support calmly.

“When food prices go up 20%, it affects most Americans, but not Taylor Swift. When housing prices become unaffordable, it doesn’t affect Taylor Swift or any other billionaire, it affects middle-class Americans across the country,” Republican vice-presidential candidate Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) told Fox News.

More than 400,000 people clicked on Swift’s Instagram link for voter registration information, but neither campaign is relying on celebrity endorsements. Trump, Harris and their surrogates are sweeping swing states all weekend long.
