Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump accused his rival and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris of stealing his policy line in her speech at the campaign rally in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday.
“Kamala Harris, whose ‘honeymoon’ is coming to an end, just copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS rule,” Trump said on his Truth Social app.
“The difference is that she won’t do it. She only wants to do it for political reasons!”
This was a response to Harris’ efforts to gain support from service members at the campaign rally.
“I promise everyone here that as president, we will continue to fight for the rights of working families, including raising the minimum wage and eliminating the tax on tips for service and hospitality workers,” Harris said.
The previous Friday, the Vice President had made a successful appearance in Arizona together with her running mate Tim Walz.
Harris said she would fight for lower consumer prices. She would “take on big corporations that engage in illegal price gouging” and big landlords who unfairly raise rents for working families. She would also pressure big pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices.
In addition, a member of Harris’ campaign team said her proposal would require Congress to pass legislation.
“As president, she would work with Congress to develop a proposal that would impose an income limit and strict requirements to prevent hedge fund managers and lawyers from structuring their compensation in a way that would seek to profit from the scheme,” the official said.
