“Trucks are prohibited on these roads”

It’s not just moving season – storage season has also begun.

Early Friday morning, another truck was involved in an accident on Storrow Drive. The semi-trailer reportedly overturned and crashed into an overpass.

“Traffic alert on Storrow Drive West,” posted the Massachusetts State Police. “This morning a semi-truck rolled over and struck an overpass westbound on Storrow Drive at the Fenway exit.

“For safety reasons, traffic is reduced to one lane and one lane at the exit is closed,” state police added.

A few hours later the accident site was cleared.

Following the truck incident, Massachusetts traffic safety officials warned moving companies to avoid Storrow and other low-clearance roads.

“Moving season is here – don’t let #Storrow catch you off guard!” posted MassDOT Safety. “These roads prohibit trucks due to low ground clearance (up to 9 feet). Waze and GoogleMaps will not recognize that you are driving a truck: Storrow Dr; Soldiers Field Rd; Memorial Dr.

“Share this with anyone you know who is moving!” added the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s traffic safety team.

In late August and early September, U-Haul and other moving trucks can be seen throughout the region as college students return to town.

“Welcome to everyone moving to Greater Boston!” posted the Massachusetts State Police. “If you are new to town, please be careful where you drive large vehicles. If you live here, please be courteous to those who are not as familiar with our roads. Massachusetts is a great place to live and we are glad you are here.”
