No injuries were reported in a truck fire Tuesday evening on Interstate 30 near the Caddo Valley exit.
The driver of a semi-trailer reportedly noticed heavy smoke coming from the engine compartment and pulled onto the shoulder of the road eastbound at mile marker 77, where he unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the flames with an onboard fire extinguisher before disconnecting the trailer from the truck.

“The driver said the truck started smoking and the further he drove, the thicker the smoke became,” said Caddo Valley Fire Chief Chris Sparks.
When firefighters from Caddo Valley and Arkadelphia arrived on scene, the fire quickly spread to the cab of the truck.
The fire was first reported at approximately 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Both eastbound lanes were closed for approximately 15 minutes as firefighters arrived to battle the flames.
The front half of the truck was completely engulfed in flames. Sparks said the fire did not reach the fuel tanks behind the cab, but the truck was a total loss. The contents of the uncoupled trailer reportedly consisted of various car parts.
