Driver of an 18-wheeler died late Friday evening in a crash involving five vehicles in Arlington
Arlington, Texas – Authorities are investigating a fatal traffic crash involving three semi-trailers and two SUVs on U.S. 287 in Arlington Friday evening, police said.
According to Arlington police, the fatal crash occurred on August 24 just before 10:30 p.m. on northbound U.S. 287 near Sublett Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a semi-trailer failed to react to the speed of traffic slowing or stopping at a construction zone on 287 and collided with another semi-trailer, setting off a chain reaction.
The impact caused the second semi-trailer to strike a 2016 Land Rover, which in turn struck a 2015 Toyota Rav 4, which in turn struck the third semi-trailer, Arlington police said.
The driver of the first tractor-trailer died in the crash. The Tarrant County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after next of kin are notified.
