Truck driver dies in accident involving dump truck and grain truck in rural Minnesota

Warroad, MN (KROC-AM News) – A truck driver was killed in an accident in Minnesota involving a dump truck and a grain truck.

The State Patrol says he was the only occupant of the dump truck he was driving. A man and a child were in the other vehicle.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident in Roseau County in northern Minnesota, at the intersection of County Road 12 and 530th Avenue, about 10 miles southwest of Warroad.

According to the state accident report, the dump truck was traveling east on County Road 12 and the grain truck was traveling south on 530th Avenue when the large vehicles collided at the intersection.

Richard Lee Hasbrouck, 59, of Warroad, was driving the dump truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The grain truck driver was identified as 39-year-old Tyson Emil Lovejoy of Warroad.

He and an 11-year-old boy named Eli Elton Lovejoy who was riding with him suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital for further treatment.

Tyson and Eli were not wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor in the deaths, the state report said.
