Tree in Arizona falls on house and envelops residents

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – Residents of an Arizona apartment were trapped Tuesday when a tree fell on the building during a monsoon storm.

“All of a sudden, my apartment just shook. I just felt everything shaking and then I saw the wind and things flying around and then suddenly I heard the ‘pew’ and I think that was when the tree fell,” said one resident.

“I thought I saw at least a hurricane or tornado. But it was probably a microburst. The speed must have been well over 80 or 100 miles per hour. I’m not an expert, but I think you can look at the trees,” said another resident.

All trapped residents were freed and firefighters evacuated 16 apartments in the complex to ensure the building was safe to live in.

No injuries were reported in the incident and no further information has been released.
