A tree fell on a neighbor’s house Thursday afternoon after severe storms hit the area. Jack Aversa was at his home on Sand Spurrey Road with his family when the tree fell. He said just before the tree fell, massive hail fell from the sky and winds increased.
BALLSTON SPA, NY (WNYT) – A tree fell on a neighbor’s home Thursday afternoon after severe storms ravaged the area.
Jack Aversa was with his family at his home on Sand Spurrey Road when the tree fell. He said just before the tree fell, massive hail fell from the sky and winds increased.
“I had the front door open and was taking a video when I suddenly heard a bang! And then I saw the ceiling collapse and my wife was sitting on the couch. I wanted to try to get her to safety as quickly as possible,” Aversa said.
He said his entire family was able to leave the house unharmed, but it was a close call.
“The wall panel hit her head, but luckily it didn’t fall off. And you know, it hit her hard, I think. Yes, she’s OK now,” Aversa said.
NewsChannel 13 also spoke with neighbor Samantha Abdul-Haqq, who called 911 when she noticed the tree shortly after it fell.
“I was in shock. I just wanted to make sure everyone was OK and that everyone was alive because trees had fallen here before and people had been injured. I just wanted to make sure everyone was OK,” Abdul-Haqq said.
