A city’s tram network is largely out of service after a storm caused trees and other debris to fall on several routes.
Manchester’s Metrolink has suspended most of its services after strong winds from Storm Lilian caused trees and branches to fall and overhead power lines to be damaged overnight.
Bus routes throughout the city are also affected. Passengers are therefore asked to find out about their journey before setting off.
A spokeswoman for Transport for Greater Manchester said work was being carried out to restore affected tram services “as soon as possible”.
Some tram routes in the city continue to operate at reduced capacity, including those from Rochdale to Victoria Station, Manchester Airport to Sale Water Park and Manchester Piccadilly to Old Trafford.
Tram customers have been reminded that they can use tickets or passes on any Bee Network or Stagecoach service.
