After years of whistling while working on a new film, Snow White is finally set to return to the big screen. Disney unveiled the first trailer for Snow White at D23 on Friday, ahead of the March 21, 2025 release date.
The film was supposed to be released in March of this year, but Disney pushed it back a year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. To underscore the film’s long journey to the screen, stars Rachel Zegler (Snow White) and the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot) were at D23 two years ago and showed the first footage.
Marc Web, known as director of the Amazing Spider-Man Films, directs the film, which includes songs from The greatest showman And Dear Evan Hansenby Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
The film comes almost 90 years after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfswhich premiered in 1937 and became a cornerstone of the Disney empire. Several versions of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale have made it to the screen, from Lily Colins’ Mirror, mirror To Snow White and the Huntsmanstarring Kristen Stewart.
It is one of several Disney live-action films that will be released in the coming months. The first is Mufasa – The Lion Kingwhich will be released in theaters on December 20. The live-action remake business was going well for Disney, especially before the pandemic, when it was almost routine to remake films like Beauty and the Beast And Aladdin to one billion dollars.
