Toucher and Hardy names executive producers of Adam 12, Chapman, Dan O’Brien and Mike Lockhart from the squad

98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston has made more big changes to its morning program. This time, the changes happened behind the scenes and resulted in a change in the show’s producers. According to reports from Chad Finn of the Boston Globe and Boston Radio Watch, executive producer Dan O’Brien was fired on Wednesday in what was interpreted as a financial move. “Adam 12” Chapman, who has worked for Sports Hub owner Beasley Media Group’s 92.9 FM, has been named the show’s new executive producer.

According to Finn’s sources, Mike Lockhart, who had been with the show since before it aired on 98.5, was scheduled to stay with the show and work with Chapman. However, later that day, Lockhart posted on his X account that he had instead decided to leave the station.

“It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from 98.5 The Sports Hub,” Lockhart wrote. “I hope I was able to create many great radio shows for your morning commute in Boston. It was a blast.”

According to Finn’s account, Lockhart was completely blindsided by the whole situation, as he said he had been told he would keep the executive producer position if there were any changes. Finn also noted that Lockhart was fired from the company in 2022, only to be rehired a short time later after Rich Shertenlieb offered to pay his salary.

Shertenlieb eventually left the show and his place was taken by Rob “Hardy” Poole.

Boston Radio Watch summarized what they heard and published it on X:

“Some additional details on the changes in production support staff at the Hub: Longtime morning show executive producer Dan O’Brien was let go yesterday. Producer Mike Lockhart, who wanted the actual executive producer job but was not offered it, was offered a promotion. Lockhart declined the promotion and resigned. The executive producer position will now be filled by former Rock 92-9 jock/PD Adam “12” Chapman. How’s that for musical chairs?”
