Touch A Truck Wilkes event scheduled for September 7

From organizers

The fourth annual Touch A Truck Wilkes event will be held on Saturday, September 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting, at the North Wilkesboro Rotary Park Fairgrounds (behind Cook’s).

From 1pm to 2pm, there will be a sensory-sensitive hour without lights and sirens. This free, family-friendly event offers children and families a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with different vehicles and professions.

Touch-A-Truck Wilkes is more than just a fun day out – it’s an educational experience that connects families with local resources, services and activities. With over 70 vehicles on display and more than 50 for-profit and nonprofit businesses participating, participants can expect a day of excitement and learning.

The highlight of this year’s event will be the presence of the North Wilkesboro Fire Department’s Tower Truck 21, which will provide ladder lifts for children and families throughout the day. Additionally, the Brushy Mountain Fire Department will be on hand with Tanker 44, so kids can spray the fire hose alongside a fully equipped firefighter. Exhibitors will be handing out giveaways to kids as they explore armored military vehicles, fire trucks, garbage trucks, tractors, boats, race cars, police cars, tow trucks, semi-trailers and more.

In addition to providing a day of free entertainment for families in the community, Touch A Truck Wilkes directly benefits the youth of Wilkes County through impactful initiatives. All net proceeds from the event are donated to local organizations that support youth development in our community. Touch A Truck Wilkes is proud to be a nonprofit organization that is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3).

Event sponsors include Champion Towing, GFL Environmental, Matt Matthews State Farm, North Wilkesboro Rotary Club, Pixels On Paper Photography & Graphic Design and Wilkes Community Partnership for Children.
