Tottenham have signed young talent Mikey Moore in his first professional contract.
One day after his 17th birthday, when he first became eligible to play, Spurs announced that the winger had agreed to a professional contract.
FIFA rules limit the contract length for under-18s to a maximum of three years, but it is understood that Moore has been offered a financial package that reflects his status as one of the best players to come out of the north London academy in recent seasons.
Making his debut against Manchester City on May 14, Moore broke the record to become the club’s youngest player in the club’s history, and his performance also attracted a lot of interest from rivals.
Moore has since made one further appearance as a substitute and played a key role in Ange Postecoglou’s pre-season games, which included a tour of South Korea and Japan.
Postecogolou said last week: “You could say it’s unbelievable that he’s turning 17.
“We brought him into the first team at the end of last year. Every time he played for the U18 or U21 teams, he made an impression.”
“For a very young player, he adapted very quickly (to the first team). He came back in pre-season and did really well in games and training. It’s great for this football club that he has come through our academy and is already showing great potential.
“But he is a young man. Our job is to provide him with the best possible environment so that he can become the best possible footballer.”
